Trans-PRK uses a new technology named Schwind Amaris excimer laser system.
Some features of Schwind Amaris include:
The SCHWIND AMARIS 750S impresses with a pulse frequency of 750 Hertz and ensures an extremely short treatment time. One dioptre of myopia is corrected with very high precision in only 1.5 seconds.
With the extremely small spot size and the Super-Gaussian beam profile an exceptionally smooth and tissue saving ablation is achieved.
The eye tracker camera monitors the position of the eyes 1050 times per second with a latency time of 1.6 milliseconds. Automatic pupil size control and pupil centroid shift compensation ensure additional safety.
The feature SmartPulse improves vision quality in the early postoperative phase of all treatment methods, whether stromal or surface. Patients can see immediately after surgery. SmartPulse uses a sophisticated geometric model based on a fullerene structure.
The thermal control process prevents damage to the surrounding corneal tissue, even at very high ablation speed. ITEC ensures that the laser pulses are distributed in a thermally optimized, dynamically adapted way, which gives the individual position on the cornea sufficient time to cool off. Following pulses can thereby approach an already cooled position faster.
With the SCHWIND AMARIS laser systems it is possible to carry out no-touch, all-laser surface ablations. Thereby the epithelium, which is the regenerative surface of the eye, is ablated by the laser system. The Trans PRK is a transepithelial single-step treatment that avoids the eye coming into contact with any instrument or any chemical agent.
The unique particle aspiration system of the SCHWIND AMARIS technology ensures stable microclimatic conditions across the cornea. Particles that could shield energy during ablations are thereby effectively removed. At the same time, the climatic conditions remain constant, preventing the cornea from drying out.
The 90 degree swivelling laser arm facilitates patient preparation as well as the use of other medical devices.
We have developed some improvements in different aspects of the technique, called as refined-teansPRK by the company experts. These modifications are in three main domains:
– Ablation programming: We consider a comprehensive demographic and visual parameters of each patient to best individualize the ablation for the eye treated.
– Ablation technique: We consider specific settings in ablation parameters such as optical zone and centration approach.
– Post-operative medical regimen: We have developed and exploit a featured post-operative drug regimen, called as “Iran regimen”; this regimen improves corneal healing and prevents induction of astigmatism as well as occurrence of regression. Additionally our patients experience significantly less degrees of pain immediately after the operation.
